LEVELS TEST OF VOCABULARY - RECOGNITION

This is a vocabulary test. It has 40 questions, ten at each of 14 thousand-levels. If you use this test carefully, it should give you a good idea of the number of English words you know. Alternatively, you can also just use the test as a practise activity.

What you do: In each question, you must choose the right meaning to go with the word in CAPITAL letters. Click in the small circle beside the best meaning. Here is an example.

1. CAT: The cat sat on the mat.     a.animal that chases dogs     b.animal that carries people     c.animal that chases a mouse     d.animal that eats fruit

In the example, the best meaning for CAT is answer c,"animal that chases a mouse," so the circle beside this answer is the one you should click. In this small demonstration, the button has been clicked for you.

Before doing the test, however, you should click some other buttons and watch how they change.

You can do any part of the test or the complete test. Click Score on the left at any time, or as many times as you like unless your teacher has given you other instructions.
