By: Donna TunneySeptember 21, 2009 (TravelWeekly.com) Is it the wave of the future? Oasis, a new host agency that began recruiting experienced agents earlier this year, said it has a unique concept for independent retailers: It pays 100% commissions, and there are no sign-up or monthly fees. But there is a per-booking fee of $29. According to the Boca Raton, Fla.-based firm, agents who integrate their business with Oasis receive 100% commission on all bookings from the first day they join. There are no quotas or higher fees to get this commission level. Receiving 100% commission allows an agent to be more competitive in today's marketplace, a statement from the company said. Also, Oasis, short for Outside Sales Integration System, encourages outside agents to market directly to their clients under their own agency name. Experienced sellers of travel appreciate this flexibility. Kelly Bergin, vice president of business development, said affiliated agents would pay the fee whether they deposit on a $1,000 booking or a $20,000 booking, like one of our agents did last week. When the commission comes in from the supplier, they receive the entire commission. She added, It's a really good deal for agents. According to Oasis, outside agents add to the agency's sales volume, and in turn, agents receive buying power and top-tier commissions on a wide variety of cruise and tour products. Oasis is a division of Smart Travel Group Ltd., a holding company for a variety of travel related businesses. Started in 1987 as Palm Coast Travel by CEO Lee Smolinski, the company is an online cruise agency in the U.S., with offices in Ohio, North Carolina and the U.K. Palm Coast Travel is a full-service travel agency and a member of Signature Travel Network, Iatan, Nacta, OSSN and CLIA.
